CHAT HELP

  • AUTOFLOAT. Your chat room window will automatically float when you log in.  This will help you see more of the chat screen at once so you can keep up. If you do not want your chat window to float, you can "dock" it by pressing the button 3rd from right on the buttons bar (looks like two windows one atop the other) in the chat window.  Do not close the scbg webpage when your chat window is floating, or else you will be disconnected from the chat.

  • NEWBIES. If you see new visitors, please welcome them and attempt to respect that they may actually want to talk about Rome, eh? You never know who might be visiting.

  • PRIVATE CHATTING (THE "ATTIC"). If you want to chat one-on-one privately with a visitor, double-click their name in the visitor panel to the right of the chat screen and a private message (PM) window will appear.

  • PRIVATE ROOMS. On the lower right of the chat screen is a drop-down menu for the private rooms. If one group wants to talk "Rome" in the main chat while another group wants to talk about something else, then one group may move their discussion to a private room.

  • TROLLING. Trolling is done in good fun in the SC. To change your name, type on a new line: /nick NAMEYOUWANTHERE and click 'Send'.

  • EMOTICONS/SOUND EFFECTS. These can be accessed by using the emoticons and sound effects buttons, or by right-clicking in the message entry field for a shortcut list.
